Contaminated Soil Removal:
Harvest Park Developments
Challenges
Our client came to us with a substantial amount of contaminated soil, which was unsuitable for traditional inert disposal or recycling.
The redevelopment project had strict deadlines for waste removal, which meant we had to act fast to identify the precise make-up of the contaminated waste and dispose of it correctly, ensuring all compliance requirements and regulations were met.
It was clear a single transport company would not be able to deal with such large quantities of soil within the tight timeframes.
- Trusted specialists called in for soil analysis
- Same-day sample couriers for quick turnaround
- 10 carriers used to guarantee timeframes
- Compliance pack containing duty of care notes, permits and licences
Solutions
We called in trusted experts in waste analysis to test the soil, and recommend the best possible method of waste disposal for the specific waste types identified, in order to ensure full compliance.
To cover all bases, we completed an additional asbestos report and Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) analysis, measuring the leachate in the soil to conclude the suitable handling and disposal for the material. By contracting a same-day independent courier to transport the samples, testing could be carried out quickly, and the process was completed within two days.
Once the waste was approved to be received by the tipping site, we arranged the excavation and disposal logistics, bringing together a team of ten different transport companies from our extensive network.
Our efficient and reliable partners were able to work together to complete jobs quickly, at short notice and on this project they managed to remove around 18 wagons of soil a day.
Results
Because we’re able to call on our trusted partners, we can get big jobs done quickly. In this case, we organised the removal of 660 tonnes of contaminated soil in less than a week.
Our meticulous supply chain auditing process meant the client was able to get on with their busy schedule of development, fully confident that their waste was being transported and disposed of correctly and responsibly, with 100% compliance.
At the end of the project, we presented the client with a compliance pack detailing every waste movement, their duty of care notes and all the necessary permits and licenses for all the waste carriers used.
“Envirovue acted fast and efficiently to get the job done and were very helpful with all the compliance involved. Finding the contaminated soil immediately put the project on hold but they got us up and running in no time.”
